A Therapist's Tips For Dealing with Baby Showers During Infertility with Dr. Ali Domar

Baby showers can represent 1 of the hardest times for anyone going through infertility. It may be time with Mother's Day. But I have 1 rule for all of my patients. Do not feel obligated to attend a baby shower unless you want to. If you feel comfortable going, go.

But if you don't feel comfortable going, here's some advice. If you can simply RSVP or enable to go, do that. You would have plans. I'm so sorry. Send a nice gift.

If it's someone you can't RSVP no to, like your sister or cousin or best friend, RSVP yes. And then that morning, dispose it for COVID or develop a stomach bug like Nora, which is really contagious. Send a gift. And in terms of gifts, don't go into a baby boutique. Either go online or go to a bookstore and choose the books you loved as a kid.

Everyone gets cute infant clothes. Books can last for years.
